How To by Paul Jackson

Abstract

This shows steps how to set up notifications for deleted workproducts.

How To

Here are the steps to create custom notifications for deleted workproducts:

1) Change the mode to "Setup"
2) Go to the "My Notification Rules"
3) Select the work product type(in your case a user story or defect)
4) Go to the "Actions" drop down and select "new notification rule"
5) Give the notification a name and click the "add condition" button
6) Under the FIELD column select "Object ID" and the Operator to "changed-to" then click save & close
7) You will follow these same steps for both work products.

This filter will notify you when "ObjectID changed-to <no entry", which means the object has been deleted from Rally.

How To

Schedule State is a built-in drop-down field that is shared by all work products.

It behaves slightly different from custom drop-down fields:

It can only have six values; no more, no less

Four of the values are non-modifiable (they cannot be edited or disabled):

Defined

In-Progress

Completed

Accepted

There is a customizable value before Defined ("Custom 1"), and a customizable value after Accepted ("Custom 2")

To change either of the two custom values, follow these steps:

Bring up the Schedule State field edit window

Setup mode -> Workspaces & Projects -> <<select your workspace>> -> Work Products & Fields (left menu) -> Defect (work product type) -> edit icon next to Schedule State

Select the "Custom 1" value by clicking on it in the Drop Down List Values box

Change the value in the "Value" field

Change the value in the "Legend" field

Enable the "Enabled" field

Click on the green "Actions" checkmark

Save

Your new Schedule State value(s) should now be ready to use!

How To

Custom fields cannot be deleted, but they can be hidden. To hide the custom field please follow these steps:

1. Go to Setup | Custom Fields and then click the edit icon next to the custom field you wish to hide.
2. On the Detail page, click the Hidden checkbox .
3. Click Save & Close.
