      Dale -
Wow! I can't believe how exciting Walk & Bike Month is already this year and how many people are out biking! We have 4,446 people and 209 companies signed up so far for Bike-to-Work Day. At this rate, we are on track to blow by last year's record numbers as more and more people in Boulder realize that biking and walking are the smartest, and cheapest, ways to get around town.

We have another exciting list of events this week. On Saturday, we have the YMCA's Community Ride. On Sunday, the Intercambio Ride, a bi-lingual beginner's ride, will start at Boulder High at 3 p.m.

Next Tuesday (the 17th), we have a carbon-free ride to Heil Ranch. Walk & Bike Month Weekly Update

What an incredible Walk & Bike Month! Many thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers and the over 7,500 people and 264 companies who registered for Bike to Work Day! (This compares with 5,100 people and 156 companies in 2007.)

All this would not be possible without the support of the City of Boulder and the generous sponsors of Walk & Bike Month. A special thanks also goes to all the businesses and community groups that participated in BINGO!, Park(ing) Spaces, hosted a breakfast station or hosted a Walk & Bike Month event. (Please see our Camera ad on June 30th for the complete list.)

We heard a lot of stories this month from people who chose to find other ways to get to work, play or shop. We also heard from those who chose to give up a car and become a one-car family. If you have a special Bike to Work Day or Walk & Bike Month story to tell us, please e-mail me at bikesue@gmail.com

Remember to keep walking and riding your bike. If you need on-line turn-by-turn bike routing directions go to www.GOBikeBoulder.net.

Again, thanks to all who registered and participated and thanks to our many awesome sponsors!

      Ride safe!
