Back in November of 2007, we got started down the path of greening Rally. At that point in time, we made the commitment to off-set the power used by hosted operations through wind credits. In December of 2007, we worked with our hosting provider, Via West to contract with Xcel Energy to provide Wind Credits to ViaWest and pass through to Rally's bill. Because of large demand on Xcel's Wind Credit program, Via West has not received these Wind Credits yet. As a result, I had to go to the public market and buy wind credits from a REC off-set marketing firm. I choose Native Energy because of a recommendation from Salesforce.com and others.
In Q1 of 2008, we use about 3500 Kilowatt hours of power to run our production data center. So below is the very pretty certificate for our Cool Watts. I have it printed on my office window too.
Happy Earth Day 2008!
