    Title:
How to receive Rally notifications via RSS
    Abstract:

Instructions on how to use Rally RSS feeds.

    How To:

You can use RSS (Really Simple Syndication ) for change notification in Rally.

You will need to install an RSS reader and set up the following news feed:

    https://rally1.rallydev.com/slm/rss/notifications/All.rss

Your client must support SSL and "HTTP Basic Authentication."

Your client should automatically prompt you to log in, at which point you should enter your Rally username and password.

Tried this in Google Reader and it fails:

      Feeds matching "https://rally1.rallydev.com/slm/rss/notifications/All.rss"

      « Return to feed discovery

Your search did not match any feeds.

      Suggestions

      • Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
      • Try different keywords.
      • Try more general keywords.

Dave: This is because Google Reader does not support authenticated feeds. You need to use another reader, or browser, which supports authenticated RSS feeds.

On this note, I tried to subscribe to my RSS feed, but am unable to be authenticated. I tried this in Firefox and Safari (which both support authenticated feeds), but cannot get authenticated. I double, and triple, checked that my username and password which I use to log in to Rally was correct.

      Anyone experiencing this problem? Thanks.

      Hi Diego,

Interesting - what versions of the browsers are you using?  If you clear your cache and cookies, do you still receive the error?

I'd recommend testing this "by hand" and hitting the link above from your browser window.  If you have an addon (in Firefox) like Firebug or Fiddler, the error output might be helpful.  Additionally, you can also make query results come back as RSS:  https://rally1.rallydev.com/slm/doc/webservice/rssquery.jsp

I'm not sure if that would help, but thought it was worth noting.  Let me know what you find!

      Hi Matt,

Thank you for the response. I figured out that the problem was due to the fact that we are trying the free version for the moment. So the URL for the RSS feed, which is included in the online help, points to the paid server: https://rally1.rallydev.com/slm/rss/notifications/All.rss

When I changed the URL to: https://community.rallydev.com/slm/rss/notifications/All.rss, it works.

      Thanks again.

      Cheers,

      Diego
