I would like to "hide" releases (and their associated stories) that have passed their end date.
Our user stories screen is filling up with "old" user stories from previous releases that have already ended which is making the screen much harder to manage. Is there a way to "hide" or "inactivate" a release and all it's scheduled stories or defects?
I think I've been able to do this before. Two previous releases that were worked on are hidden along with all their related user stories and defect, however, for some reason I can't figure out how to "hide" a recently completed release.

Hi Ana,
there is a feature request regarding ability to hide (archive) historic iterations or releases or finished epics to prevent clutter in UI.
Right now there isn't a switch in Rally to do so, but you may create a custom view on Plan>User Stories page where only stories that belong to a specific release or specific releases are shown.
To create a custom view click on New Custom View button and add several conditions that satisfy your requirements, e.g. Release = r1, Release = r2, etc. Please note that you may want to set "Show Result When..." to "Any of the conditions below are met" so that it uses OR, not AND operator.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the feedback. I am using custom views as you recommended. I was hoping there was an "easier" way.
Why, though, would a release that ended back in August (2009) no longer appear at all in the app but all info relating to an "Accepted" release that ended in November (2009) still appear?

Hi Ana,
you are welcome.
I wonder if one of these possibilities explain why a release no longer appears:
a) the release has been deleted
b) scoping of the current project prevents appearance of that release
Using a custom view with specific release conditions or using "Filter" button to filter in a single release (and filter out the rest) will make the page more manageable.
